| Event Organiser: Slovenian Presidency and European Commission The Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan signals the technological breakthrough and is becoming the milestone in the continuing development of European energy policy. It is proposing ways forward while clearly identifying some of the initial barriers to the development of emerging and innovative technologies for cleaner, reliable and sustainable energy across Europe. To ensure success, the Plan requires the support of many stakeholders, including governments, industry, non-governmental organisations and research communities. Equally, it is essential that there is a robust understanding of the major strengths and weaknesses concerning the research environment, investment opportunities, international cooperation and support from industry and utilities in achieving these goals.
