9th European conference on Sustainables Cities and Towns

Hosted by the City of Mannheim, and ICLEI Europe, the European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns will open its doors for the 9th time from 30 September – 2 October 2020 in Mannheim, Germany. The conference will demonstrate the urgent need for local governments to assume responsibility for urban transformation and lead the way in guiding Europe towards a secure and sustainable future.

The conference is also the occasion of underlying the importance for the acceleration of bottom-up action and change, and accelerate the ambition of global frameworks for sustainability and climate change.

Held every three years, the conference is the multi-level interface between the European Union and sustainability action at the local level. Join over 800 participants from local and regional governments, European and international institutions, multilateral organisations, the research community, business and civil society.

The main topics addressed during the event will evolve around the role of cities in energy transition; the impact of the European Green Deal or of the digitalisation; Perspectives regarding sustainable economy; the role of citizen in shaping the future of sustainable cities; …
